‘Così fan tutte’ in Vienna

This month, Christopher Maltman returns to the Vienna State Opera to perform as Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, following his most recent acclaimed performances as Leporello in Don Giovanni with the company.

This new production by Barrie Kosky explores the motivations behind Don Alfonso’s manipulation of the four lovers, highlighting his role as the “engineer” of their betrayals. Kosky’s direction provides a deeper understanding of Alfonso’s character, shedding light on his intricate schemes and the psychological intricacies at play. Under the baton of Philippe Jordan, the stellar cast also features Federica Lombardi as Fiordiligi, Emily D’Angelo as Dorabella, Peter Kellner as Guglielmo, Filipe Manu as Ferrando, and Kate Lindsey as Despina.

The performances are scheduled for June 16, 19, 22, 24, 26 and 28.
