‘Tosca’ in Berlin

Christopher Maltman returns to Staatsoper Berlin this January, reprising his gripping portrayal of the evil Scarpia in Puccini’s Tosca in Alvis Hermanis’ bold production. He will sing the iconic villain again later this season, at the Wiener Staatsoper. Maltman has been associated with the Staatsoper Berlin since his debut as Enrico in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata in 1996, and recently bowed there as Scarpia, the title roles in Rigoletto and Don Giovanni, and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.

Maltman joins an all-star cast, led by conductor Giuseppe Mentuccia. Sonya Yoncheva sings the title role, alongside Vittorio Grigolo as Mario Cavaradossi and Carles Pachon as Angelotti.

Tosca plays January 15, 17, 21, 24, 28, and 30.
