‘Rigoletto’ in Berlin

This spring, Christopher Maltman reprises the title role in Bartlett Sher’s production of Rigoletto at Berlin State Opera. When the production debuted at the company in 2019, OperaWire described Maltman’s portrayal of Rigoletto as “commandingly confident from the first notes he sang. The sheer power of his voice was awe-inspiring as it thundered through the auditorium.”

The stellar cast also includes Francesco Demuro as Duke of Mantua, Nadine Sierra as Gilda, Grigory Shkarupa as Sparafucile, Anna Lapkovskaja as Maddalena, Maria Hegele as Giovanna, Adam Kutny as Monterone, Carles Pachon as Marullo, Johan Krogius as Borsa, Benjamin Chamandy as Count Ceprano/Court Usher, Regina Koncz as Countess Ceprano/Page. Giuseppe Mentuccia conducts.

Performances are on May 19, 24, 29, June 2 and 4.
