‘Der fliegende Holländer’ at Tiroler Festspiele Erl
Renowned for his portrayal of iconic Wagnerian roles, Christopher Maltman joins the Tiroler Festspiele Erl this July, reprising his acclaimed portrayal of Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer. Of the baritone’s recent performances of the role with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Limelight praised his performance as “a tour de force of emotional complexity and technical mastery.”
Lauded for his towering interpretations of Wotan (Der Ring des Nibelungen) and Hans Sachs (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Maltman sings Der Holländer, joined by Gábor Bretz as Daland, Nina Bezu as Senta, Jamez McCorkle as Erik, Shannon Keegan as Mary, and Matthew Newlin as Steuermann. The production will be musically led by Asher Fisch and directed by Josef E. Köpplinger.
Maltman sings the role of Der Holländer July 11, 17 and 26th, 2026.
